From Path Graphs to Directed Path Graphs

We present a linear time algorithm to greedily orient the edges of a path graph model to obtain a directed path graph model (when possible). Moreover we extend this algorithm to find an odd sun when the method fails. This algorithm has several interesting consequences concerning the relationship between path graphs and directed path graphs. One is that for a directed path graph, path graph mode...

Vertex Decomposable Simplicial Complexes Associated to Path Graphs

Introduction Vertex decomposability of a simplicial complex is a combinatorial topological concept which is related to the algebraic properties of the Stanley-Reisner ring of the simplicial complex. This notion was first defined by Provan and Billera in 1980 for k-decomposable pure complexes which is known as vertex decomposable when . Later Bjorner and Wachs extended this concept to non-pure ...

Positive graphs

We study “positive” graphs that have a nonnegative homomorphism number into every edge-weighted graph (where the edgeweights may be negative). We conjecture that all positive graphs can be obtained by taking two copies of an arbitrary simple graph and gluing them together along an independent set of nodes. We prove the conjecture for various classes of graphs including all trees. We prove a num...

Path Separability of Graphs

In this paper we investigate the structural properties of k-path separable graphs, that are the graphs that can be separated by a set of k shortest paths. We identify several graph families having such path separability, and we show that this property is closed under minor taking. In particular we establish a list of forbidden minors for 1-path separable graphs.

Graphs and Path Equilibria

The quest for optimal/stable paths in graphs has gained attention in a few practical or theoretical areas. To take part in this quest this chapter adopts an equilibrium-oriented approach that is abstract and general: it works with (quasi-arbitrary) arc-labelled digraphs, and it assumes very little about the structure of the sought paths and the definition of equilibrium, i.e. optimality/stabili...
